It's time for a Moscow Mule!
I've been eager to try a few Moscow Mules for us so we all know which ones are worth our time and which ones to skip. This one from Mule 2.0 is up first.
As I was getting ready to write this review I had a hard time finding the actual name of the brand. After some serious looking I found it - Mule 2.0 - so we were off to an interesting start already.
I have seen a few other pre-made Moscow Mules as I've been out searching for cocktails to try but this was the first time I'd seen this brand so I picked it up knowing I could double back to the other brands next.
I have to say I was a little disappointed with this ready to drink cocktail. It is priced a few dollar higher than the others so I thought maybe it would set the bar high for my ongoing Moscow Mule research. (That sounds so official! LOL) But no. It did not set the bar high.
It was definitely drinkable. I certainly wouldn't *not* drink it. But overall I thought it was a little flat with a strange, spicy aftertaste that I couldn't quite figure out. Maybe a fresh lime garnish would have helped but that kind of defeats the purpose of a "ready to drink" cocktail in my book.
Here is official my score for the Mule 2.0 Pre-Mixed Moscow Mule:
As I mentioned above it tasted fine - it's just nothing to write home about. The flavor was right for a mule but it didn't have the complexity that you would get from a Moscow Mule at a bar. It just didn't have any depth to it except for that strange spicy flavor at the very end. Luckily though, it is pretty boozy so there's that.
One shaker = not sweet at all // Five shakers = your teeth may curl
This pre-mixed mule's sweetness is right in line with what you'd expect from a mule so bonus points there.
One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = Four Lokos
The Mule 2.0 rings in officially at 8% ABV. I did get a good warm, tingly feeling about halfway through this cocktail so all was not lost after all. :)
Would I buy this again?
Probably not - but I am willing to give it another shot if I'm not able to find another pre-made Moscow Mule that I like better.
Stay tuned in the next few weeks for another Moscow Mule review. Do you have one that you love? Leave me your tips in the comments below.
Have you tried this drink? What did you think? I'd love to hear from you in the comments section. The more opinions the better! Let's "drink together" and share our cocktail stories.
This ready made Mule 2.0 is 8%, not 12%. It’s not bad, but I can make a dark and stormy with Koloa dark rum that I think is far more delicious.
