TGIF cocktail lovers! I'm back with another ready-to-drink margarita as we count down to Cinco de Mayo. This week's marg is from Laughing Glass. They were nice enough to send me their bottled margarita to try. This one is low cal which I know is important to some of you cocktail lovers. Personally, I don't mind "spending" my calories on cocktails. I'm more concerned with having a cocktail I really enjoy versus how many calories are in it, but as always, I'm here to take one for the team and see what it's like.
Right off the bat, I love that this is a wine bottled sized cocktail. That makes it so easy to serve to friends or to take to a party instead of wine or beer. That kind of convenience is exactly why I love this ready-to-drink cocktail market so much.
The weather is finally warming up here and this bottle was just calling my name for a little front porch happy hour situation so I grabbed a salted rim glass, a Swizzly Stick, a lime wedge, and the bottle of Laughing Glass Margarita and went outside to enjoy life. Cheers!
Here is my official review of the Laughing Glass Margarita:
This is a pretty solid choice for a lower calorie, guilt-free margarita. The flavor was really smooth, not too tart, not too sweet, no major tequila flavor overpowering the whole thing. It's a good, solid skinny margarita - and way better than several other skinny margs I've tried. I'm looking at you Skinny Girl!
The Laughing Glass margarita is 110 calories for a 4 oz drink. For me, I can totally tell that this is "diet" cocktail. I prefer a little richer flavor in my cocktails but there is nothing about this one to not like. Just keep in mind that it isn't as flavorful as other full bodied margaritas.
One shaker = not sweet at all // Five shakers = your teeth may curl
This margarita is not sweet at all! Not even a little bit from the triple sec. It is does not have even a hint of sweetness. If you like your margaritas on the less sweet end, then definitely make note of this one from Laughing Glass. You'll love it.
This ready to drink margarita officially rings in at 12% ABV or 24 proof so even though it lacks in full bodied flavor, it does not skimp on the booze and that is worth celebrating for sure. In my mind there is nothing worse than a lightly flavored cocktail that is also light in booze. What are you even doing at that point? You might as well just grab a La Croix and call it a day.
Huge point to Laughing Glass for making a boozy margarita that is lower in calories. Two thumbs up for that!
Would I buy this ready to drink cocktail again?
I probably wouldn't pick up this cocktail from Laughing Glass again strictly because there are other ready-to-drink margaritas that I like a little better and because I don't worry about cocktail calories.
That being said, they do have a spicy chilly and pineapple margarita that I *really* want to try and a tequila cosmo that sounds super interesting to me as well.
I will definitely be on the lookout for the other Laughing Glass bottled cocktails to try in the future.
