Let's try another spiked sparkling seltzer, shall we?
I heard from a lot of you after my last review of the White Claw spiked seltzer that I should check out this one from Smirnoff. (If you missed the White Claw review check it out here.)
I picked up a case of the cranberry lime flavor for my girl friends and I to try. Smirnoff does carry a variety pack of their spiked sparkling water but there weren't any available where I was shopping. As I mentioned last week, I'm not the biggest sparkling water fan so take this review with a gain of salt. If you love sparkling water, then definitely check this one out. That being said, I was eager to hear what my friends thought of these canned cocktails from Smirnoff.
To quote my friend Andie, "meh, it's okay." But what these cocktails lack in wow factor they totally make up for in lightness. They are only 90 calories, the flavor is light, they aren't sweet and the alcohol content is low. Overall, they are a super light cocktail that makes for a great option on a hot summer day when you want something simple.
Here is official my scores for the cranberry lime Smirnoff Spiked Sparkling Seltzer:
There isn't much to like or dislike about the flavor. The touch of flavor that it does have is good. It's like a refreshing hint of berry and lime.
One shaker = not sweet at all // Five shakers = your teeth may curl
True to it's sparkling water roots, this canned cocktail is not super sweet. It has just enough sweetness to override any bitter taste you'd get from the booze.
One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = Four Lokos
Officially this one rings in at 4.5% ABV which is comparable to a lot of light beers. However, I didn't get much of a buzz after drinking this pre-made cocktail. Maybe you have to drink a few of them to notice? Idk - chime in in the comments section if you've tried these.
Would I buy this again?
If I was hosting a party I would pick these up for my friends to add a little variety to the bar situation. The spiked seltzers are a good alternative to beer and with less calories they are a winner during swimsuit season. Personally, I'll be drinking something a little closer to a traditional cocktail.
If you don't feel like running to the store you can order these online. Did you know you could order booze online?!?!? Magic right? Pick up the Smirnoff Spiked Seltzers here.
Have you tried this drink? What did you think? I'd love to hear from you in the comments section. The more opinions the better! Let's "drink together" and share our cocktail stories.
