Canned Cocktail Review: Joia Spirit Sparkling Gimlet (Part 2)

Posted by Jaime Fowler on

Joia Spirit sparkling canned cocktail review by The Pursuit of CocktailsThis week is all about the Gimlet

If you read my post last week then you know I celebrated my birthday at the Nevada Day parade last weekend with the three new cocktails from Joia Spirit. Last week I tried the Sparkling Key Lime Vodka soda - you can read my full review here. This week I'm all about the gimlet.

I partook in the Sparkling Gimlet as part of my parade festivities and snapped this amazing photo as a colorful float passed by. There really is nothing better than being front row at a parade in my book. So how as the cocktail? Keep reading to find out.

Joia Spirit Sparkling Gimlet ready to drink cocktail review

Here is my official review of Joia Spirit's Sparkling Gimlet:

Four cocktail shakers

Okay, so truth be told, I've never had a gimlet before so I'm by no means an expert on this particular gin cocktail. However, I can tell you what I thought of this specific sparkling version from Joia.

This canned cocktail is light with a great, slightly citrus-y, slightly floral taste. The can says that the flavors include lime, hibiscus and ginger. I do think that I can taste each of those flavors. Overall, I really like this cocktail.

Sweetness

One cocktail shaker
One shaker = not sweet at all  // Five shakers = your teeth may curl

I should really make a zero shaker graphic for this one. It is not sweet at all. In fact it has absolutely no sugar in it and since none of the flavors are naturally sweet, this might be the least sweet cocktail ever.

I do typically prefer a sweet cocktail but in this case, I don't mind. I'm digging this sparkling gimlet.

Booziness

Three cocktail shakers
One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = Four Lokos

Officially this one rings in at 6% ABV. Like the other sparkling cocktails from Joia, this one has a way of slipping up on you if you drink several of them. They are light but mighty.

Would I buy this ready to drink cocktail again?

Yes, I think I would. It is different than any other canned cocktail I can recall and I just really like it. I feel like I should have more to say but this is just a good, solid gin cocktail. I say go for it!
